Background
Mike Vanden Avond, otherwise known as Myk, has lived in Green Bay his entire life. He received his fire protection degree from FVTC and paramedic from NWTC. His first career firefighting job was in the city of Oshkosh where he worked for 2 years. Mike returned to his home town when he was hired by GBMFD 2006. Mike has held many fire related jobs over the years. He was a Haz-Mat technician for Veolia Emergency Services. He also worked for the Bellevue and Allouez fire departments as a paid on call. Mike is a fire instructor for Fire LLC and NWTC. Mike became a Battalion Chief on December 31, 2014.
