Digital Services During COVID-19

The Department of Public Works provides essential services to the City of Green Bay, even during times of crisis or increased public health and safety precautions within our area. This page is designed in an effort to provide the same essential services to both residents and contractors during the COVID-19 situation, while limiting the amount of person-to-person contact. This is for the safety and well-being of both the community and City employees.

Obstruction and Excavation Permits

The Department of Public Works is still requiring and issuing necessary permits required for construction projects within the City of Green Bay right-of-way. The right-of-way can be defined as the area from the back of the sidewalk out into the street.

The contractor doing the work must apply for any excavation and obstruction permits.

If approved, you will receive an email with a link to an online public folder to download your approved permits. DPW has a 3 full business day period for the processing of permits once all documents, e.g. permit application, insurance and bond information, have been received and verified. Permit requests are reviewed and processed in the order they are received. Do not submit permit requests the day of or the day before you plan to begin work.
